Wonderful conversation. What a gift! The documentary Best Worst Thing That Ever Could Have Happened is one of my favorite art movies ever. So great to hear more from Lonny Price.

Amazing interview, interviewer, and interviewee. Moving. To tears. We all miss Sondheim but luckily can enjoy testimonials like this. Sure that Lonny can provide material for more interviews! Please!

This is a brilliant interview.

"And Steve really was a master at writing for a performer---He liked writing for specific people, because that made things very clear to him. It gave him boundaries."

You can really see in this in some of the pieces he mentioned and that specificity is so great to watch and learn from.

Also I loved this question-- "I'd love to hear more about your experience of Sondheim as a collaborator, as you just touched on. When you speak now of your three best notes, or talking fast, were those things you actively discussed with him? Or was it more a case of him observing, perceiving, absorbing all of those idiosyncrasies?"

The insight into the way he works shines a light on certain things in his work and just helps me see the nuances even more?! it's great.
